Inventory Availability Search Tips * All searches are case insensitive. (KONA is same as kona) * In the following, when you see the word Enter followed by some text delimited with single quotes, it means that only the delimited text is the search string you enter * First thing to bear in mind is that this is a program (script), that you provide it with a search hint (string). In return, it tries to find for you lines from the Inventory Availability file that have your search string appear anywhere in the line. In other words, it will return lines that will match the search text that you entered. This means that the more efficient and concise your search string is, the better the search result. * All info in Inventory Availability file originates from our database. As such, many Fabric Names and Pattern Names or Colors may be abbreviated, or a little different from what you are used to. So it’s OK to try few times and follow the quick tips below. * Easy does it. Often times you need a couple of tries to refine your search. Usually, if your search text is longer than 7 characters (letters or numbers) you probably are over doing it. e.g. Enter 'cord' to get any fabric that has corduroy in it’s name. You will get many lines in this case, but this will give you an opportunity to view the exact fabric name or color, then you can copy it and go back and re-enter it. * Here are some 5 quick tips that you can’t go wrong with them: 1. When searching for Prints enter only the pattern number. e.g. Enter '6412' to get all the available colors for this pattern. 2. If you are interested in a specific color enter the pattern number, followed by a ‘-‘, and the color number. e.g. Enter '6412-2' For the color black. 3. When searching for a Solid, just enter a few letters of the Fabric name. e.g. Enter 'PIMA' to get all the lines that have Pimatex in them. 4. When using the default search method ‘Fabric Name and Pattern/color ‘, you can provide more than one search hint (text), just separate them by commas. e.g. Enter 'PIMA , Bas' and you will get the Pimatex Basics. This has the good effect of narrowing or limiting your search. In general, you can always narrow your search by giving more hints, but remember to separate them by commas. 5. You can widen your search by using the search method ‘Multiple Patterns’ this will give you all the lines that match any hint you give. This is good if you have an order that has many different patterns and you want to view availability for all of them in one try), just separate them by commas. e.g. Enter '6412-2, 6412-10, 6412-3, 7410-90, 7410-19' you will get exactly 5 lines with these Patterns/Colors.(Try it) * Choose search method from the drop down list, enter search string in Input Box, then press the submit button. You have 7 search methods: 1. Fabric Name and Pattern/color 2. Multiple Patterns 3. All 4. Status 5. Fabric Name 6. Pattern Name 7. Pattern Number * When you choose Fabric Name and Pattern/color from the drop down list, you will be able to perform a global search based on a full or partial Fabric Name followed by a comma and Full or partial name of the Pattern Name/Color. Spaces before and after the comma are OK. In other words, the result of your search will include lines from the Inventory Availability file that have your search string appear anywhere in the Fabric Name and appear anywhere in the Pattern Name/Color. Fabric Name and Pattern/color Examples: 1. For Fabric Name Kona Cotton Color Black enter the following search string: 'Kona C , BLA' Other possible search strings such as: 'Kona Cot , BLA' or 'Kona Cotton, BLA' will yield the same results 2. Enter 'The Last, OCE' for The Last Frontier, Ocean to get for all the Ocean colors in ‘The Last Frontier’ fabric. You can also enter the prefix or the pattern number such as: 'The Last, 6742' or 'The Last, ETJ' * When you choose ‘Multiple Patterns’ from the drop down list, you will be able to perform a global search based many comma separated hints (search texts). In this case all lines that match any of the hints you provide, will appear in the search result. Unlike the ‘Fabric Name and Pattern/color’ case, here you are actually widening the search rather than narrowing it. This is beneficial if you have an order that has many different patterns and you want to view availability for all of them in one try, just remember to separate your text by commas. e.g. Enter '6412-2, 6412-10, 6412-3, 7410-90, 7410-19' you will get exactly 5 lines with these Patterns/Colors.(Try it) * When you choose ‘All’ from the drop down list, you will be able to perform a global search. In other words, the result of your search will include lines from the Inventory Availability file that have your search string appear anywhere in the line. ‘All’ Examples: 1. For Pattern Name or Pattern Number enter the search string followed by ‘–‘. e.g. Say you are searching for the EU Pattern. It’s more efficient if you enter the string ‘EU- ‘; because if you enter ‘EU’ you will get all the EU, EUJ, EUM as well as AJS-5379-8 CHARTREUS and all the solids that have CHARTREUS as their color. Similarly, Enter ‘5412-‘ will return all items with 5412 pattern number only, otherwise if one line happens to have 5412 for the number of yards available At Once, that line will be included. 2. Enter 'Kona C' for all the Kona Cotton items. Enter Kona Cotton,WHI for Kona Cotton color white. The more characters your string has the better the result. e.g. If you Enter 'Kona Cotton,BL' for Kona Cotton color BLACK, you will get the BLUE , BLUSH, BLACK, BLOSSOM. But if you Enter 'Kona Cotton,BLA' you will get Kona Cotton color BLACK only. * When you choose ‘Status’ from the drop down list, you will be able to search by fabric status. E.g. enter ‘S’ to get all the Special items. * When you choose ‘Fabric Name’ from the drop down list, you will be able to search by fabric Name. In this case, you need to enter the Full name of the fabric as it is in our data base. * When you choose ‘Pattern Name’ from the drop down list, you will be able to search by Pattern Name. In this case, you need to enter the Pattern prefix or the Full Pattern Name of the fabric. (Unlike the ‘All’ search method, EU will return all items with EU prefix only.) * When you choose ‘Pattern Number’ from the drop down list, you will be able to search by Pattern Number. In this case, you need to enter the Pattern Number or the Full Pattern Name of the fabric. (Unlike the ‘All’ search method, 5412 will return all items with 5412 pattern number only.) * There is more to it, so dare to explore and you will master it in no time. GOOD LUCK.
